The peoples who were indiginous to the area of Dawson City and the creeks that fed the Klondike River (the Tr'ondek Hwech'in) elected to build a new settlement just downriver from Dawson City. Moosehide is accessible by foot path from Dawson City; vehicle access is not possible except when the river is frozen.
